The Rusch Lasertubus is a laser resistant endotracheal tube made of soft white rubber, reinforced with corrugated copper foil and an absorbent sponge. It offers resistance to medical lasers, such as AR+, Nd/YAG and CO2 types, in the range of 0.488µ to 10.6µ. Lasertubus is fitted with a double cuff design that offers maximum protection against airway fires. The design incorporates all of these safety features while maximizing access and visibility.

Benefits:

• Soft white rubber in conjunction with laser resistant material is most suited for laser surgery. In controlled bench tests no damage occurred to the protected soft rubber even when exposed to a 20watt CO2 laser beam for 40 seconds.
• When properly wetted, water evaporation from the sponge material consumes the energy of the laser beam and prevents the “Hot Tube” effect (common with metal tubes).
• The absorbent sponge prevents the laser light from penetrating the tube shaft.
• Micro corrugated copper dissipates the laser light and prevents back-scatter.
• The double cuff configuration helps reduce the risk of tube fires even if one cuff is ruptured (if damage to a cuff occurs reintubation with a new Lasertubus is recommended).

The endotracheal tube is most commonly referred to as ET.
